DARTMOUTH –The sisters of a 30-year-old woman who died after being struck by a truck say they don’t hold any anger towards the driver that hit her.

Johanna Dean was killed Wednesday afternoon when her bicycle was struck by a truck at a Dartmouth intersection.

“I’m sure he's in a tremendous amount of pain as well,” Jackie Dean said. “Johanna would not want to add to that.”

Dean taught students in grades one and two at St. Catherine’s Elementary School in Halifax.

Her twin sister, Julie Dean, said her twin was a positive influence to everyone she knew.

“She just did not let me fail on myself. Her encouraging and energetic personality just made sure that I pursued on.”

A cycling group in Halifax will hold a memorial ride this Wednesday at the Dartmouth Sportsplex to honour Dean.

Her family says it’s not a time to mourn but rather a chance to celebrate her life.

Dean's funeral will be held Tuesday morning at St. Benedict’s Parish in Halifax.
