A marathon police standoff has ended peacefully in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley.
Kings District RCMP responded to a call about an emotionally-distressed man claiming to have a gun inside a Hall Road home in Greenwood just before 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The road was blocked off and several nearby homes were evacuated due to safety concerns.
A specialized crisis intervention team was also called to the scene.
The 54-year-old man, who was alone in the home, surrendered peacefully to police around 4:30 a.m. Monday, roughly 33 hours after the ordeal began.
The man was arrested and taken for a medical assessment. He remains in police custody.
Hall Road has since re-opened to traffic and residents are allowed back in their homes.
