A 21-year-old North Preston man has been charged in the death of a 23-year-old man from the same community.
Narico Downey was gunned down outside his grandmother’s Downey Road home in North Preston on July 29.
Downey was already being rushed to a Halifax hospital with gunshot wounds when police arrived on the scene shortly after 8:30 p.m.
He later died of his injuries and police deemed his death a homicide.
Downey’s murder was added to the Nova Scotia Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program on September 28.
Police say tips they received through the program helped them to narrow down a suspect in the case.
Stephan Johnson turned himself in to police Thursday afternoon.
Johnson has been charged with second-degree murder in Downey’s death and is due to appear in Halifax provincial court Friday afternoon.
