Two teens are facing a slew of charges after an alleged abduction in Halifax on the weekend.
Halifax Regional Police responded to a home in the 3000 block of McAlpine Avenue before 5 a.m. Sunday after receiving a call from a 19-year-old man.
The man told police he had been assaulted and was being held against his will by several males inside the home. He also said one of the suspects had a handgun.
Police say he got out of the house and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers made contact with the occupants of the home and four people – two male teens as well and a man and a woman - came outside.
Police took them in to custody for questioning. The adults were released without charges but two 16-year-old boys are facing multiple firearm-related charges and several Criminal Code charges:
· Aggravated assault
· Uttering threats
· Unlawful confinement
· Assault causing bodily harm
· Assault causing bodily harm
· Assault with a weapon
· Kidnapping
· Extortion using violence
· Robbery with a weapon
The teens were held in police custody overnight and are due to appear in youth court Monday.
Police say the incident remains under investigation and additional arrests may be made. Investigators also say the incident doesn’t appear to random act, as some of the people involved are known to each other.
