A 37-year-old man is in custody following a stabbing in Saint-Sauveur, N.B.

On May 17, around 3 p.m., RCMP responded to a residence near Route 160 in Saint-Sauveur, about 40 km southeast of Bathurst.

Officers were told that a man had entered the residence, and an altercation had taken place between the man and a woman. The woman managed to disarm the man, but both people were stabbed during the altercation.

Both the man and woman were taken to Bathurst Regional Hospital. The woman was later released. The man was air-lifted to a trauma centre in Moncton and is recovering.

Charges are pending against the 37-year-old man. The investigation is continuing.
