Two men are facing charges after another man was allegedly robbed and stabbed in Halifax Thursday evening.

Police were called to the area of Birmingham Street and Morris Street shortly after 7:30 p.m.

Officers found a 44-year-old Halifax man suffering from stab wounds to his hands when they arrived on scene. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

Police spotted a man matching the description of one of the suspects leaving a home in the area and a foot chase ensued. The 26-year-old man was eventually arrested.

A 25-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident on King Street in Dartmouth later that night.

Both men were held in custody overnight.

Shane Lee Croke and Joseph William Hecimovich, both from Dartmouth, have each been charged with robbery with a weapon in connection with the incident.

Croke has also been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault causing bodily harm, while Hecimovich faces an additional two counts of breaching a probation order.

Croke and Hecimovich are due to appear in court Friday.

Police don’t believe the incident was a random act.
