Investigators are investigating a crash that claimed the lives of two young people on a Nova Scotia highway Wednesday.

RCMP say a 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were killed in the single-vehicle collision on Highway 103 near exit 5 in Upper Tantallon around 4:20 p.m.

Police say it appears the 2012 Dodge Ram truck rolled before coming to rest on the highway.

Two people were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the man was from Halifax and the woman was from Cole Harbour.

“A 21-year-old man transported to the QEII with life-threatening injuries by lifeflight, and his condition remains the same,” said Cpl. Dal Hutchinson of Halifax District RCMP. “The 18-year-old driver of the truck was transported to hospital and later released with minor injuries.”

CTV News has learned the identity of one of the two people who died.

The family of 21-year-old Olivia Colley shared the following statement:

“Olivia was loved by her large family. She was the only girl of six children. She had a very independent spirit and took amazing care of her dad and kept her mom in check at all times. She was well known for her wonderful and unique sense of humour and her infectious smile. Olivia was a rugby enthusiast who played and coached on the Pig Dogs Rugby team. She will be missed by her co-workers at Panavista Sobeys in Dartmouth.”

The highway was closed until 1 a.m. Thursday.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
