Snow on Christmas Eve is snarling travel across the Maritimes.

Heavy snow began falling in parts of New Brunswick overnight, spreading to western Nova Scotia by daybreak.

Vehicles were spinning off the road and getting stuck all around Halifax and its surrounding area on Tuesday, including Highway 102 in Fall River.

New Brunswick RCMP issued a no travel advisory on Tuesday afternoon for Route 1 between Saint John and Petitcodiac due to drifting snow. Most major highways in central and southern parts of the province were snow covered for much of the day.

Several flight arrivals and departures were delayed Tuesday morning at airports across the region including Fredericton, Moncton, and Halifax.
