The Crown is planning to withdraw a charge against a man accused of killing a cat in Truro, N.S. in July.

Police were called to Fairview Drive on July 12 after a witness spotted a man lure a cat and then attack it.

Investigators appealed to the public via social media and arrested a 29-year-old man later that day.

Gregory Stephen Tynes was charged in the alleged attack, but the Truro Crown Attorney’s office says it will withdraw the charge.

In a statement, police said the Crown, upon reviewing the file, has “determined the likelihood of a conviction was not met.”
