Heidi Petracek

CTV News Atlantic Reporter

Halifax

Formerly the co-host of CTV Morning Live, Heidi Petracek has transitioned to news and is now a Halifax-based reporter for CTV Atlantic.

Heidi has brought her energetic, witty and engaging personality to radio and television for more than twenty years.

She started her career as a television news reporter in her home province of Saskatchewan, before moving on to work in Calgary, Toronto, Corner Brook, and St. John’s. Over the years, she has worked in both radio and television as a news reporter, host, producer, and writer.

She is a highly-skilled communicator who has interviewed hundreds of people including Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis, Canadian rocker Kim Mitchell, baseball Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar and Col. Chris Hadfield. Heidi has also interviewed countless people across Canada who simply have compelling personal stories to share.

She has reported on many key events in Canada – from federal elections and floods, to the collapse of the Atlantic fishery, the immediate aftermath of the 9-11 attacks, and Moncton shootings in 2014.

Heidi regularly lends her talents to fundraisers for Maritime organizations such as The IWK Foundation,  Christmas Daddies, Adsum House and the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia, to name a few.

Heidi was recently named “Media Person of the Year” by the Tema Conter Memorial Trust for her coverage on PTSD among first responders in Canada.

When she’s not working, Heidi enjoys playing the French horn, cooking and spending time in the great outdoors.
