Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in connection with an alleged abduction in Halifax.

An Atlantic region-wide warrant was issued for the arrest of Robert Roech Chan on March 5. Police say Chan’s arrest warrant was modified Tuesday to be Canada-wide as investigators have reason to believe he may have left the Atlantic region.

Chan is described as a black man with short, black hair and brown eyes. He is six-foot-one and weighs 170 pounds.

Police say he is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached if spotted.

The 21-year-old Halifax man is facing nine weapon-related charges, in addition to one count each of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, uttering threats, extortion and robbery in connection with an alleged abduction.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a home in the 3000 block of McAlpine Avenue before 5 a.m. March 2 after receiving a call from a 19-year-old man.

The man told police he had been assaulted and was being held against his will by several males inside the home. He also said one of the suspects had a handgun.

Police say he got out of the house and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers made contact with the occupants of the home and two 16-year-old boys were arrested. They have been charged with several serious offences, including kidnapping, unlawful confinement, uttering threats and aggravated assault.

No firearms were found inside the home. Police say the incident was not a random act as the parties are known to one another.

Police arrested a teenage girl in connection with the incident on Wednesday. She faces two weapon-related offences, in addition to one count each of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, uttering threats, extortion and robbery.

Investigators also arrested 20-year-old Daniel Angus Ryan in connection with the alleged abduction after an Atlantic-wide warrant was issued for his arrest Wednesday.

He faces nine weapon-related offences, in addition to one count each of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, uttering threats, extortion and robbery.
