Laura Brown

CTV News Atlantic Journalist

Fredericton

Laura Brown is a videographer based out of Fredericton.

Laura grew up on the north shore of Prince Edward Island, in the small community of Hamilton. Laura knew as early as grade school that she would like to pursue a career in news, and went on to major in journalism and political science at St. Thomas University. She graduated with distinction in 2012.

She had also completed a military journalism course with the University of Calgary.

Laura began her career reporting briefly for CBC New Brunswick, before moving to Moncton to work as a video journalist with Global News. She has covered some of the toughest stories to hit the Maritimes in recent years, including the deaths of two young boys who were strangled by a python. In October of 2013, Laura covered the contentious anti-shale gas protests in Rexton, N.B. She has earned several awards for her breaking news and videography work.

Laura moved back to Fredericton in 2014, where she covered provincial affairs and the New Brunswick legislature. In January, 2016 she joined the CTV Atlantic team, working out of the Fredericton bureau.

Laura says the power of telling stories through images and video is what drew her to television, and she feels privileged every time a Maritimer trusts her to tell their story.

Laura also enjoys good food, and going home to P.E.I.
