Man and woman charged for impaired driving: N.S. RCMP
Lunenberg District RCMP has charged a man and a woman, both from the community of New Canada, N.S., with impaired driving.
On Thursday afternoon, RCMP responded to a report that a woman was suspected of driving a Hyundai Elantra in Petite Riviere Bridge while impaired.
Officers patrolled the area and located the vehicle on New Cumberland Road in New Cumberland, N.S.
Police conducted a traffic stop and found a man operating the car with a female passenger, according to a news release from the RCMP.
“The investigating officers noted signs of alcohol impairment in the driver and he was arrested for impaired operation,” reads the release.
“Further investigation indicated the passenger had previously been operating the car. She also showed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired operation.”
Officers took both the man and the woman to the Cookville RCMP detachment where they each provided breath samples.
Police say the man’s sample showed he was more than four times over the legal limit and the woman’s sample showed she was impaired as well. Police also learned the woman was under a court order not to consume alcohol.
Victoria Langille, 32, of New Canada was held in custody and appeared in Bridgewater provincial court on Friday. She was charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and three counts of failure to comply with a court order.
The 55-year-old man from New Canada, whose name was not disclosed, was released from custody and will appear in Bridgewater provincial court on Feb. 26.
