NEW GLASGOW - A teenager who admitted to stabbing a New Glasgow man last October is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday in Pictou.

Nineteen-year-old Shane Matheson pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted murder in March.

Additional charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon were stayed by the Crown.

Scott Jones’s spine was severed after he was stabbed on Thanksgiving weekend. He’s now paralyzed from the waist down.

Matheson faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
