Two women are accused of robbing a Tilley, N.B. man who was reported missing in March and found dead in May.

Wayne Rattray was last seen alive at his Walker Road home the morning of March 2. A short time later, police and fire crews responded to a fire at his home, but 59-year-old Rattray was nowhere to be found.

His home was destroyed in the fire, which was deemed suspicious.

Five days later, Rattray’s pickup truck was found engulfed in flames on a lane off Highway 109 in Three Brooks, N.B. That fire was also deemed suspicious.

Police searched the areas surrounding Rattray’s home and where his truck was found. An RCMP helicopter also conducted aerial searches, but search crews failed to locate him.

On May 21, Rattray’s remains were found on an island in the Renous River by some people who were canoeing.

Three men have been arrested in his death and now police say two women are facing charges in connection with a robbery alleged to have taken place at Rattray’s home sometime between March 1 and March 2.

April Sandy Berube, originally of Grand Falls, and Josee Andrea St-Amand, of Three Brooks, were arrested Wednesday and appeared in Woodstock provincial court on Thursday.

Berube and St-Amand have each been charged with robbery while St-Amand is facing an additional charge of possession of a prohibited weapon in connection with the search of a Three Brooks home on May 25.

Police say 23-year-old Berube and 30-year-old St-Amand have been released on conditions. Berube is due back in court on July 12 while St-Amand is scheduled to appear on July 19.

In addition, three men are facing first-degree murder charges in Rattray’s death.
