A New Brunswick woman accused of leaving a newborn baby in a snowbank nearly five years ago has elected to be tried by judge alone in the Court of Queen's Bench.

Christine Margaret Wood is charged with attempted murder, offering an indignity to human remains and concealing the body of a child.

The 30-year-old Riverview woman did not appear in Moncton provincial court on Tuesday. Her lawyer, Scott Fowler, appeared on her behalf.

The body of a newborn baby boy was discovered in a snow bank on Taylor Road near Monteagle, N.B. on April 4, 2009.

The baby is legally known as Baby Boy Doe but became known as Baby Taylor in the weeks following the discovery of his body.

Over the course of their investigation, police received information that led them to Wood. She was arrested in Hillsborough without incident on May 17, 2013.

Police allege Wood disposed of the dead body with the intent to conceal the fact that she had given birth to him.

The case was set over to Feb. 25 to set a date for a preliminary hearing.
