Staff members at the Atlantic Institution in Renous, N.B., seized $405,500-worth of drugs last week.

Workers seized crystal methamphetamine, shatter, MDMA and marijuana in the maximum-security facility on Dec. 9, according to a news release from Correctional Service Canada.

Police are investigating the incident.

“The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions,” the release reads. “These tools include ion scanners and drug-detector dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates, and visitors. CSC is heightening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.”
