Responding officers learned a man fired a gun inside the home after an altercation with a woman he knew, said the release. Nobody was injured.

Officers arrested Tony Fleming Hingley, 61. The man allegedly tried to strike one of the responding officers during the arrest multiple times, but was taken into custody safely, said the release.

Hingley has been charged with:

  • careless use of a firearm
  • possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes
  • resisting arrest
  • failure to comply with order (two counts)

Hingley was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in Truro Provincial court Friday.
