Police in New Brunswick investigating Christmas Eve sudden death
Saint John Police are looking for information related to a sudden death investigation on Christmas Eve morning.
A woman was found laying unconscious on the side of the road in the 600-block of Lancaster Avenue on the city’s west side on Tuesday just after 4 a.m.
“The victim, identified as Nicsy Arboleda Rodriguez, is a 30-year old resident of Saint John who was discovered on the ground severely injured,” said Saint John Police Staff Sergeant Matthew Weir. “Emergency first aid was rendered at the scene, and she was transported to hospital where she was pronounced dead.”
Forensic Services and Major Crime were called to the scene to investigate. An autopsy will be scheduled in the near future to determine a cause of death, said Weir
As part of the on-going investigation, police are asking possible witnesses or anyone in the area with footage of the incident at the time it occurred to contact police.
“This is an area of town where there could very well be businesses with surveillance,” said Weir. “Not only that, nowadays we are finding a lot of people have surveillance cameras installed in their homes. Ring cameras that pick up a lot of things from the front of residences showing the roadway.”
Weir said there is no risk to the public as a result of this investigation.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Saint John Police Force at 1-506-648-3333 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or 1-800-222-TIPS.
