STANLEY BRIDGE, P.E.I. -- RCMP say a dead dog found tied down by weights in water under a bridge in P.E.I. died of natural causes, not drowning.

Police were called after a tourist in Stanley Bridge discovered the animal, which had been wrapped in a blanket.

The dog was taken to the Atlantic Veterinary College on the Island where a necropsy was conducted.

RCMP say the exam determined there were no signs of physical abuse and the dog appeared to have been well cared for.
