OTTAWA -- Military investigators say a former civilian employee faces a fraud charge after $400,000 went missing from a family resource centre at an airbase in Nova Scotia.

The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service says its investigation began after military police received a complaint that money had been misappropriated from the family resource centre at Canadian Forces Base Greenwood.

A 55-year-old woman who had been a civilian employee for about 13 years and worked at the Greenwood Military Family Resource Centre faces a charge of fraud over $5,000.

Karen Lorraine Byers is due in provincial court in Kentville, N.S., on Sept. 29.
