More than 20 years later, former Fredericton teacher John Robert Campbell has been found guilty of two counts of sexual exploitation involving two boys he taught at the school.
The incidents, which involved various sex acts, took place at Campbell's home at the time.
On Wednesday, the Crown and defence went over what would be an appropriate sentence for Campbell.
Crown prosecutor Darlene Blunston asked for two-to-three years for each offence, which could mean up to six years total for Campbell.
Defence lawyer Peter Crocco asked for two years for each offence, saying at the time of the incidents, the maximum sentence was five years.
A single victim impact statement was read by a victim, and called Campbell an “anteater of the hill of innocence.”
The victim also said he had trouble maintaining a job or relationships, and that he still can’t make sense of the incident.
Campbell will not find out his fate until April 28, when Judge Pierre Dube will hand down his sentence.
