FREDERICTON -- New Brunswick's Public Safety Department is warning of the potential for ice jams and flooding along the St. John River and other river systems in the province.
A bulletin issued Monday warns that water levels are expected to climb over the next 48 hours.
It says rising temperatures and rainfall are melting the snow pack and ice in all areas.
People living and working along the rivers, particularly those in low-lying areas, are advised to stay alert for ice movement and rising water levels.
Officials are monitoring ice jams on the Aroostook, Nashwaak, St. John and Southwest Miramichi rivers.
