RCMP in New Brunswick say remains found in Penniac on the weekend are those of a 56-year-old Saint John woman.
Police say they were able to identify Susan Lynn Burnside by using dental and medical records.
Two hikers found her remains and some personal items in a tent in the woods near the Penniac Bridge around 5 p.m. Saturday.
Police say Burnside had lost touch with her family and was considered to be a transient with no fixed address.
She was never reported missing to police.
Investigators say there are no obvious signs of foul play but cause of death is still unknown.
Police also aren’t certain how long her remains were in the tent.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the RCMP at 1-888-506-RCMP (7267).
