July 1, 2017 marks the 150th anniversary of Confederation. To celebrate the birth of our nation, there will be Canada 150 events held throughout the country. FEATURED EVENT

Canada: Day 1 is Pier 21’s Canada 150 project, supported by RBC Foundation, which brings to life 150 years of immigrants’ “Day 1” experiences. This exhibition will be on display in the Ralph and Rose Chiodo Gallery from March 18 to November 12, 2017 and is included with museum admission.

New Brunswick Events

Sept. 7: On the 25th anniversary of her platinum selling Ingénue album and the huge hit “Constant Craving,” which launched her into stardom around the world, k.d. lang is embarking on a solo tour across Canada.

Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival

Sept. 12-17: Fredericton comes alive for six days each September as hundreds of world class performers appear on dozens of stages for the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival.

Colville House: Visit the place renowned Canadian artist Alex Coalville and his family called home from 1949 to 1973.

Sept. 8-10: Up to 30 hot air balloons fly twice daily (weather permitting)at the Atlantic Balloon Fiesta in Sussex. Plus, there is an outdoor bandstand, huge indoor market, amusement rides, vendors and so much more!

Indulge

Oct. 13-15: Indulge in an array of food, complemented by a large variety of wine, beer and spirits at Indulge, New Brunswick’s Food and Wine Festival.

Kings Landing

At the core, Kings Landing is a museum. With over 70,000 artifacts, it has one of the largest collections in Atlantic Canada. The history told here reflects stories spanning over 150 years.

June 12 - Oct. 15: The Celtic Music Centre’s Ceilidh Pub offers daily lunch service featuring live traditional music with some of Cape Breton’s best musicians.

FESTIVAL ANTIGONISH

July 13 - Aug. 26: Festival Antigonish brings together writers, actors, technicians, & directors to produce a Main Stage Series, a Family Series, and a selection of innovative theatrical and artistic presentations.

Aug. 18-20: The Sherborne Kayak Festival is a kayaking intensive program that allows beginner kayakers to learn and develop their skills, and more skilled kayakers to continue to hone their craft.

Acoustic Roots Festival

Sept. 1-3: The fifth annual Acoustic Roots Festival will showcases some of Atlantic Canada’s most popular Folk, Country, Celtic, Bluegrass and Blues artists, including Adam Young, Alycia Putnam, Colin Grant, and Crowdis Bridge.

Canada AM: Perfect lobster dish

June 23-Sept. 8: Enjoy fresh lobsters, steamed clams and snow crab suppers at the Belliveau Cove wharf along St. Mary's Bay every Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival

Aug. 10-11: The Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival is an all-ages event that features the best of Folk music. Between shows, enjoy the numerous galleries, museums, shops, pubs and restaurants in the colourful town.

Blueberry Festival

Aug. 18-Sept. 2: The Wild Blueberry Harvest Festival allows you try an assortment of blueberry dishes. In addition to great food there will be contests, live music, processing tours and many more activities.

journey of a lifetime

Sept. 14-25: The Journey of a Lifetime exhibit and play is making a stop at Pier 21. Experience first-hand how Canada’s colonist cars settled the West and united a country.

Peakes Wharf Summer Concert Series

July 1-Aug. 31:Peakes Wharf Summer Concert Series: a free outdoor concert on the Charlottetown waterfront. Takes place 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

July 2 - Sept.4: Uncover the secrets of PEI’s highest dunes on a guided tour every Monday (in English) & Friday (in French) from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

2017 PEI Trucker's Big Rig Show and Shine

July 22: The Prince Edward Island Trucker's Big Rig Show and Shine and Truck Parade will be held at the Charlottetown Event Grounds.

Campground Ceilidh at Prince Edward Island National Park from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in July, from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in August.

Aug 5: Celebrate 150 years of agriculture at the Charlottetown Research and Development Centre. Enjoy fun activities for the whole family at this free event. The Open House will take place rain or shine from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Seawalk Park Summer Concert Series

July 5-Aug. 30: The Seawalk Park Summer Concert Series is back for another year! Enjoy free, live entertainment every Wednesday night in the Town of North Rustico.

Shellfish

Sept. 14: The P.E.I. International Shellfish Festival celebrates world famous P.E.I. shellfish during a 4 day festival held in Charlottetown.

Acadian Museum of Prince Edward Island

Learn about various aspects of Acadian life, then and now, at the Acadian Museum of Prince Edward Islan. Located in Miscouche, the museum features photos and artifacts that illustrate the rich history of Acadians in P.E.I.
