Twenty-four people have been displaced by an overnight fire that damaged a 12-unit apartment building in Amherst, N.S.
The Canadian Red Cross says eight adults and 16 children were evacuated at about 1 a.m. Monday.
Volunteers provided the tenants with supplies and arranged emergency lodging.
Officials say the damage is being assessed to determine when residents can return.
