RCMP have identified one of two bodies found inside a burning Jeep in western Prince Edward Island as 38-year-old Patricia Hennessey of Stratford.
Forensic autopsies completed over the weekend in Halifax failed to identify the second victim but sources say he is Nash David, Hennessey’s four-year-old son.
Hennessey’s last Facebook post was a message about her son, saying she loved him “more than all the cookies in the whole world.”
A few days later, on Friday morning, RCMP and the Tignish Fire Department were called to the single-vehicle fire on Martin Road near St. Felix.
Fire crews thought they were just being called to a vehicle fire but after they had extinguished the flames, they realized there were two bodies inside the Jeep.
The province's coroner's office and fire marshal's office are assisting police in the ongoing investigation.
Investigators believe the incident, which has been deemed suspicious, is an isolated act. They have not released a cause of death.
“At this point we don’t have a cause or manner of death established by the coroner’s office, so we’re just treating this as suspicious until we determine the cause or manner of death of both individuals,” says Sgt. Andrew Blackadar of Charlottetown RCMP.
According to a death notice in the local paper, a memorial service for Hennessey and her son will be held at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday.
