The Department of Justice is investigating after six people were injured during an alleged assault at the Nova Scotia Youth Facility in Waterville. 

Kings District RCMP say officers were called to the scene around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and found four males – two 17-year-olds, an 18-year-old and 19-year-old – were involved in an altercation with staff. 

Five youth workers and one youth were injured, with four of the workers being sent to hospital and released.

The other two were treated at the scene.

The four males were taken into custody and have been released back into Nova Scotia Department of Justice Corrections.

The 19-year-old man has been charged with mischief and rioting, while the 18-year-old is facing charges of mischief, rioting and assault causing bodily harm.
