Those running Sydney's million-dollar Chase the Ace are now chasing down answers after two people were forced to split the grand prize.
Angie Willems and Marie Matthys came forward with the winning ticket for Saturday’s $1.1 million draw. In a hastily-made decision, both were awarded the full consolation prize of $229,000.
Organizers say it's because two winning tickets were sold and are blaming it on a printing error.
"We're running a champagne event with beer tickets," said Chase the Ace organizer Stephen Tobin.
Tobin and other organizers met with Nova Scotia Alcohol and Gaming Commission officials on Monday to avoid future problems. Tobin says one of the suggestions brought forward was to change the tickets.
"Maybe we have to look at customizing tickets moving forward so these types of things don't happen in the future," said Tobin.
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission says it will likely keep the current tickets because of their popularity, but the corporation is looking at creating some sort of audit system.
While no specific changes have yet been decided, organizers say something different could be in place in time for Saturday’s draw for $1.3 million.
Alcohol and Gaming officials could postpone Saturday’s draw if they aren’t satisfied with the draw procedure.
Both organizers and Alcohol and Gaming officials say they remain confident that nothing fraudulent happened and it was a mistake.
