The Moose are loose in Saskatoon, as the Halifax Mooseheads get set to play their first game in the Memorial Cup round-robin tournament.

The Q-League champions are hoping to round out a near perfect playoff run with a Canadian Hockey League championship.

The team has a lot of support at home, particularly on one street in Cole Harbour, N.S.

Halifax Mooseheads Brendan Duke and Stephen MacAulay grew up down the street from one another on Coronation Crescent.

Neighbour Cen Cornelius has known both Duke and MacAulay since they were young.

“It's great to have all this talent in the neighbourhood, you know,” says Cornelius.

The Dukes boarded a flight to Saskatoon today, arriving in time to watch their son play in tomorrow night’s game against the Portland Winterhawks.

“We picked up a couple of these Together We Can signs that they have that are normally at the Metro Centre and we'll hand those out to cheer on the Moose and we just have a couple, not many, Go Moose T-shirts for a few of the fans that are there,” says Brendan’s mother Marie Duke.

The Dukes were elated when their son’s team won the President Cup and a Memorial Cup championship would be the icing on the cake.

“If they can bring home the Memorial Cup, that would be over-the-top for us,” says Brendan’s father Frank.

Brendan says he and his teammates appreciate the support of their families and fans.

“Knowing that they're in the stands, it's going to feel good,” says Brendan.

“Especially in Saskatchewan, we've never been out west before.”
