Kids visiting the Halifax Central Library this Saturday will get to try out innovative new technology being developed by a Halifax company to help them build their reading skills.
Eyeread, a Halifax-based education technology startup, will be offering children from Grades Primary to 5 the chance to try out its eye-tracking technology on the library’s second floor between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
The company says its reading assessment tool uses infrared technology and voice recognition to help kids independently while giving parents and teachers real-time information.
Eyeread says its technology detects when the young reader is skipping paragraphs, reading right to left, or getting stuck, while proving prompts to help them get back on track.
The startup has also partnered with Halifax Learning Summer Camp to give campers access to this tool through the camp’s programs in July and August.
