HALIFAX -- The head of a Halifax agency that provides services for people with disabilities has been remanded into custody after he was charged with sexually assaulting a young woman.
Anthony Leo Gough of Halifax was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation of a person with a disability and driving while disqualified.
The 48-year-old man is the executive director of the Social Opportunities and Rec Society, a centre that provides programs for young adults with physical and intellectual disabilities.
Investigators say they received a report Monday of a sexual assault occurring at the society during a March break camp.
Police say they believe there could be other possible victims and are urging other witnesses to come forward.
A spokeswoman for Nova Scotia's Public Prosecution Service says Gough is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on April 9.
