A former Quebec Major Junior League player remained in critical condition in a Halifax hospital Wednesday evening after a serious accident.
Ashton Bernard, from Eskasoni, was injured when his truck left the highway near Islandview and hit a tree Wednesday morning.
Bernard was airlifted from hospital in Cape Breton to Halifax.
He's listed in critical, but stable condition.
The 21-year-old forward played for several teams in the Q: most recently, The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles."
The New Jersey Devils draft pick now plays in a professional hockey league in Quebec.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
