A young Sydney man who recently suffered a heart attack walked down the aisle with the love of his life on Friday.

Sean Ferguson went into cardiac arrest last month while playing basketball with teammates from his senior baseball team.

"It's extra special getting to marry my best friend,” says Ferguson. “But it's also nice to be here healthy."

Ferguson friends performed CPR until paramedics arrived, likely saving his life. After all that, Ferguson was determined– nothing was going to stop him from getting hitched.

"When he finally came to, he made up his mind as soon as he woke up that we were going through with this, whether it was in hospital or whether it's here," says Sean Ferguson fiancée, Alyssa Ferguson.

The men who saved Ferguson's life couldn’t be there to celebrate with him today because they have a game in Dartmouth, but Ferguson says they’ll most definitely be on his mind all day.

"I think about them every day,” he says. “I wouldn't be here today without them. There's only so many times I can say thank you. I don't know exactly how to thank them, but they worked wonders, that's for sure."

Ferguson has been diagnosed with a pre-existing heart condition and has had surgery. Now that he's on the mend, the happy couple cannot describe how grateful they feel to be married.

"Can't even really put it into words, honestly,” says Alyssa Ferguson. “It's so much more than we could have ever imagined, and now it's going to be even more special than we thought."
