It's official. The Boss is headed to Moncton this summer.

After months of speculation, it's confirmed that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will headline a show at Magnetic Hill on August 26.

New dates were announced for Springsteen's "Wrecking Ball Tour" this morning and Moncton was on the list, along with a show in Toronto.

Moncton and Toronto are the only two Canadian cities on the itinerary at this point.

Moncton Mayor George LeBlanc is a big fan of the "Born to Run" singer and he used the 1975 single when he announced his intention to run in the next municipal election.

"I've always been a huge Bruce Springsteen fan," said LeBlanc last month, although he wouldn't confirm whether a concert was in the works at the time. "Love Springsteen and the E Street Band and it has always been a dream of mine to see them in Moncton."

The Twitterverse quickly became inundated as word spread quickly about the show and Bruce Springsteen and Magnetic Hill were trending Friday morning.

Rumours have also circulated that the concert, which falls on a Sunday, may be part of a bigger weekend music festival but other acts have not been confirmed.

Several hotels in the area are cashing in on the event by increasing their room rates for that weekend and some have applied a two-night minimum stay.

Tickets for the show cost $115 and will go on sale April 21 at 10 a.m.
