MONCTON, N.B. -- The Public Prosecution Service of Canada has recommended the RCMP be prosecuted for contravention of occupational health and safety provisions of Part II of the Canada Labour Code.
On Friday, four charges were laid against the RCMP for failing to:
1. Provide its members with appropriate use of force equipment and user training when responding to an active threat or active shooter event;
2. Provide its members with necessary information, instruction and/or training when responding to an active threat or active shooter event;
3. Provide its supervisory personnel with appropriate information, instruction and/or training when responding to an active threat or active shooter event; and
4. Ensure, in general, the health and safety of its members.
