Police have made an arrest in connection with the homicide death of a well-known Halifax-area yoga instructor.
Halifax Regional Police say they have arrested a 33-year-old man who was found injured in the same home in Purcell’s Cove where police discovered the body of 32-year-old Kristin Elizabeth Johnston on March 26.
The man required treatment for significant, but non-life-threatening injuries, and police say they arrested him following his release today from a Halifax hospital.
“He was arrested at noon without incident, after he was released from the QEII hospital,” said Const. Alicia Joseph of Halifax Regional Police.
There's no word on potential charges or on the identity of the man arrested.
"We have 24 hours to hold him, and question him, and within 24 hours he will either be charged or released," added Const. Joseph.
Kristin Johnston was the owner and instructor at a yoga studio in Halifax, which closed down in February.
Since her death, the yoga community has been reeling. A public memorial was held to celebrate Johnston's life on Saturday at Shambala School in Halifax, where people shared memories of the yoga teacher.
Police have previously said that Johnston and the man were known to each other, and that they are not looking for anyone else in connection to the case.
