ST. JOHN'S, N.L. -- The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating a fatal collision in St. John's.

Police say the single-vehicle crash happened around 11:20 a.m. today in the eastbound lane of Outer Ring Road between the Pitts Memorial Drive overpass and the Kenmount Road overpass.

They say a 56-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name is not being released pending the notification of family.

A portion of Outer Ring Road was closed as a forensic identification unit investigated.

The cause of the crash is not yet known.
