Police are searching for a suspect after a man was shot in Halifax last night.
Officers responded to an apartment in the 6000 block of Chebucto Road after 10:30 p.m. Monday.
When they arrived on the scene, police found a 25-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre where he underwent emergency surgery.
Police say he is out of surgery and listed in stable condition.
Matthew Bennett, who lives next door to the victim, says the shooting has made him uneasy.
“It was actually on the exact other side of the wall, so it kind of made me feel a little bit uncomfortable getting to sleep,” he says.
“I never really thought that I lived in a sketchy area of Halifax,” says area resident Cas LeBlanc.
“I just think it’s crazy that everything is kind of out branching…stuff is happening everywhere in Halifax now. It’s kind of scary.”
No arrests have been made in the case but police don’t believe the shooting was a random incident.
