Jacob Keating was found on Sunday at the Marco Polo Land campground near Cavendish, P.E.I., after being reported missing since Thursday.
Twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Keating was last seen around 10 a.m. on June 30 at the Abbey J. Lane Hospital in Halifax before he went missing.
His abandoned tent was found at the Marco Polo Land campground Sunday afternoon.
The Nova Scotia Health Authority said Keating was considered a risk to himself, and that the risk would increase the longer he was away from treatment.
“We have an obligation to protect and respect patient privacy, which means we cannot comment publicly on the specifics of this situation,” said Theresa Hawkesworth, a spokesperson for the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
Keating's family said he was checked in with an undiagnosed mental illness, and was on the first day of his medication when he went missing.
