N.S. musician creates Grinch-inspired puppet video

A new Christmas music video by a Nova Scotia artist is sure to raise some eyebrows – and potentially some chins.

Grinchy Me” by Jon Cornwall features a series of puppets on chins, offering a humourous and touching look at the holidays.

“Two or three winters ago I was walking my dog and I was a little bit stressed out about money because we were coming out of COVID where money was still pretty tight because work was thin,” Cornwall said. “I realized how down I felt before Christmas and I know that’s a common thing for a lot of people.

“Christmas is supposed to be joyful, but it’s also one of the toughest times of the year. It can be lonely.”

“Grinchy Me” was featured on Cornwall’s latest album “Great Villagers,” which was released in the summer. He filmed the music video after a friend reached out to him with the idea of using chin puppets.

“He built an upside-down set,” Cornwall said. “It’s really quirky and a little unsettling, but it works, it’s fun.”
