HALIFAX - The name of a new team in the National Basketball League of Canada will be revealed in Halifax today.

The Halifax Professional Basketball Club, which owns the new team, says it will also announce its logo and launch ticket sales.

The owners say they will officially introduce the new head coach, Hugo Lopez.

He has more than 15 years of coaching experience in the Spanish professional basketball circuit.

The team will fill a void left by the Halifax Rainmen, which filed for bankruptcy in July.

A group of business and community leaders announced in September that it had come together to operate the new team.

It's expected that the squad will hit the court at the Scotiabank Centre in late December.
