Police in Fredericton believe they may have a serial graffiti artist on their hands and they’re asking the public to help identify the culprit.

Police say graffiti has been popping up around the city over the past month on both private and public property.

They say they usually see a spike in graffiti incidents during the summer, but one particular graffiti tag is being reported more and more in the city.

“The public generally views it as what it is, it’s a crime. It defaces property and really, the individual themselves are being quite selfish,” says Fredericton Police Const. Duncan Lombard. “They’re doing this to gain personal recognition and obviously, in the process of that, they’re defacing property and bringing a certain negative stigma to an area.”

Graffiti is considered damage to property and can result in criminal charges.

Police have now turned to social media, posting photos of the tags in the hopes of identifying the person responsible.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fredericton Police Force.
