Police in Moncton make arrest after aggravated assault

One man is in hospital, and another has been arrested, after an assault in Moncton, N.B., Friday night.

RCMP responded to a residence in the 100 block of Lockhart Avenue in Moncton shortly after 9:30 p.m. Friday. An officer from the Codiac detachment of the RCMP confirmed there had been an aggravated assault.

Police said a 68-year-old-man from Moncton was transported to hospital but could not confirm the extent of his injuries.

RCMP arrested a 61-year-old man from Moncton after attending the scene with first responders including Ambulance New Brunswick.

The General Investigations Section (GIS), a serious crimes investigative support unit is participating in the ongoing investigation.
