An RCMP officer has been charged in connection with domestic violence incidents at a home in Beaver Bank, N.S.

Const. Zeran (Justin) Hutson Simmonds, 30, of the Sackville RCMP is accused of attacking his partner.

The five-year officer is facing three charges of assault.

According to Nova Scotia’s Serious Incident Response Team, the charges relate to incidents between Dec. 30, 2012 and Jan. 5, 2013.

Police responded to a Beaver Bank home shortly after midnight on Jan. 5 after a woman called 911.

They arrested Simmonds at the scene and handed the investigation over to SIRT, which is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia.

Simmonds is due to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on Feb. 20.
