NEW WATERFORD, N.S. -- A proposal to rename a road to honour a coal miner from New Waterford, N.S., will be the subject of a public meeting on Wednesday.
Route 28 leading from Dominion to New Waterford would be renamed after William Davis to mark the 90th anniversary of his death on June 11, 1925.
The government says Davis was shot during a protest to restore water and electricity, which had been switched off as strikes escalated to improve working conditions for coal miners.
The government says it wants to hear from residents in the area who would be affected by changing the name of the road to William Davis Way.
