ANTIGONISH, N.S. -- Striking faculty at Nova Scotia's St. Francis Xavier University are voting on a tentative agreement today that would bring students back to class on Monday.

The union says on its website that the executive is recommending approval of the deal.

The union is also planning a celebratory rally in the morning.

A union update for the 400 faculty and supporters urges them to form a human chain around the campus and to bang pots and pans.

The strike at the school in Antigonish began Jan. 28 after the union went eight months without a contract.

The deal extends the school year to make up for some lost classroom time for the university's 4,200 students.
