Two MLAs were kicked out of a raucous Question Period at the Nova Scotia legislature Wednesday afternoon.
Progressive Conservative MLA Alfie MacLeod was the first to go after he accused Health Minister Leo Glavine of lying and failing to do his job.
Minutes later, NDP MLA Sterling Belliveau was asked to leave after he called on Premier Stephen McNeil to appoint a new health minister and continued to shout across the aisle.
Most questions were directed at Glavine, as both opposition parties attacked the Liberal government’s record on health care.
“I take no pleasure in what took place there today, but asked on many occasions about the doctor shortage that is affecting the people of the province of Nova Scotia, and particularly in my constituency, and it’s the same old panhandle of no answers and about how great everybody is,” said MacLeod.
Glavine said the new health authority is actively recruiting new doctors, although he admits there is a physician shortage in some parts of the province.
