A Cape Breton man is facing drug charges after RCMP seized thousands of ecstasy pills in Sydney Mines, N.S.

RCMP and the Cape Breton Regional Police executed a search warrant at a home on Victoria Drive shortly after 3 p.m. Monday as part of an ongoing investigation.

They say they found over 10,000 ecstasy tablets as well as two firearms and drug-related paraphernalia in the raid.

Police say the pills were destined for communities in Cape Breton and across Nova Scotia.

Wayne Frederick Cavanaugh was arrested without incident and faces a charge of possession of ecstasy for the purpose of trafficking.

The 42-year-old Sydney Mines man is due to appear in Sydney provincial court today.
