Police in Nova Scotia are warning the public after two incidents in which people appeared to misrepresent themselves as Child Protection Services employees.
In both cases, parents were told they could lose custody of their child.
Police say a family in the Kentville area was approached on social media, while a parent in Dartmouth was approached by two women and a man at their home.
The suspects are described as two white women between the ages of 30 and 40 – one with blond hair and one with brown hair – and a white man in his 30s.
Police say that employees with the Department of Community Services are issued government identification cards that include photos, which they will show if asked.
Anyone with information about the incidents or the suspects is asked to contact police.
